Open Houses at Mr. Rich's Workshop

I take the term "Open House" quite literal. No other camp does this. Discover Camp's open houses are unique. While most take place at Holy Rosary School others take place in my home workshop. The idea behind this came from a parent who didn't know me as a teacher or camp instructor and wanted to meet the real Mr. Rich. "Come to my house,” I said. This casual meeting was so successful that I invited other parents on other weekends. Thankfully this gave the parents peace of mind and they got to see that my camp is simply an extension of me. Parents get to see and touch some of my on-going projects, my personal radio controlled racing cars, my sailboats, my vintage cars from my childhood, my children's rockets etc. Everyone who enters the "Mancave," as it's come to be known, simply cannot believe my inventory of parts, kits and projects. Of course the highlight for the kids is racing some of our cars and trucks or playing on the SMARTboard. Hobbies and science have always been a big part of my life, and the evidence is in my workshop. This is no California Closets workshop fit for a magazine just a genuine working environment.
